This is my latest design for a garden which is quite exposed to the prevailing sw winds. It is a shorefront property. The brief stated requirements such as a large flat area suitable for a ping pong table and entertaining. Seating and planting important as well as lawn area for children. The challenge with this garden is that the wind funnels through so shelter was needed. More of a challenge is the fact that levels differ by 1 metre from one end of the garden to the other. I have as a result divided the garden into three sections with the middle section showing retaining walls which house a cosy, sunken circular patio accessed by sweeping steps leading from patio. Seating on perimeter of patio with planting behind. Steps lead down and to lawn area which then leads to small seating/patio in corner to catch evening sun. Gravel leads from lawn to small patio.
