First and foremost stay safe. With my gardening hat on, as we get used to this new, temporary way of life I think how fortunate we are to be starting Spring. Be thankful for small mercies. Many good things are emerging as we struggle to deal with 'lockdown' and one of those as many of us are discovering, is, ironically, how much more 'social' we've become! Thank goodness for social media... In our street we have a Whatsapp group and many of us who have never met are chit chatting away, offering help to pick up shopping, swapping seeds, advice etc etc. We're all looking out for each other which is lovely.
On a gardening theme someone joked about entering 'Britain in Bloom' which we then decided should become our own 'In Bloom' competition. So we're getting our front gardens ready for judging in a few months' time :). Then I thought ' how about if we were to extend the idea' to front gardens, window boxes, hanging baskets and we all plant sunflower seeds to create 'Streetsofsunflowers'... let's do it. We can nurture the seeds and seedlings, while looking forward to a sunny forest of sunflowers cheering up our streets and doorways! hashtagstreetsofsunflowers!
